It was 5 years ago this week that we became the proud owners of Castle Ely Mill. We took a huge leap of faith moving from an urban lifestyle, living within the M25, to the rural idyll of West Wales…. and we haven’t looked back since! I can honestly say that this was the best thing we have ever done. We now live in a beautiful converted water mill with so much character and charm – did you know that Castle Ely Mill dates back to Medieval times?
And with our home came 3 self-catering holiday let cottages. We have spent the last 5 years gradually upgrading them all, installing new kitchens and bathrooms throughout and upgrading furniture as required. The grounds haven’t been neglected either - it take a lot of hard work to maintain the gardens and there is always something that needs doing.
In 2015 we replaced the old fisherman’s hut with “The Blue Plume” - a games room, including a pool table, dart board, TV and stereo, plus an honesty bar – we’ve also installed WIFI so that our guests can connect to the big wide world (should they wish to) whilst staying. There is also a raised decked area where you can sit back and relax whilst overlooking the lake.
We have met some lovely people during their holidays here, with many of them returning on numerous occasions – we must be doing something right! We love to hear what our guests have to say about their stay and try to act on feedback, making improvements as required.
There is so much to do and see in this fantastic area. Whether you like walking, eating, beaches, cycling or just relaxing, there is something to satisfy all ages and interests. West Wales has it all - even during the peak summer holidays it doesn’t feel crowded – there is always some quiet corner (or beach) where you can sit back, relax and take in the beauty that is Wales!
We would love to welcome you (back) to Castle Ely Mill. Stay in touch with what is happening in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire through our facebook page, and please do get in touch if you would like to book a holiday.
